Tahoe Keys Real Estate is as unique as the neighborhood itself; The Tahoe Keys is the only development of its kind – a unique private 750-acre marina resort community of 1220 homes and 335 town-homes sitting on eleven miles of inland waterways located in South Lake Tahoe, California.  Homes are located on the lake, on waterways that lead to the lake, or border lagoons.  The Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association operates its own water quality program to keep the estimated 550 million gallons of lagoon water clean.  They also have their own water company with three subterranean wells providing potable water to property owners.  The Association is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and improvements of all town home exteriors, common areas (property owned in common by all Association members) and recreation areas (pools, tennis courts, parks, beaches, piers, boat docks, waterways, etc.).

The Tahoe Island Park neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe is commonly known as “the State Streets” by Tahoe locals and those very familiar with the area.  This is because many of the streets are named after states, such as California, Oregon and Texas.

Homes in this neighborhood reflect Lake Tahoe’s varied styles. You’ll find chalets and cabins as well as newer, contemporary homes. The average lot size is 6,000 sq feet and the average home is 1,000 to 1,500 sq ft. Sky Meadows is a part of Tahoe Island Park.  This small, Planned Unit Development (PUD) is home to chalets that back to a large meadow and river. Besides the Tahoe Keys, this area is near the Tahoe Island and “Y” neighborhoods of South Lake Tahoe.

Easy Access

The Tahoe Island Park neighborhood is close to everything Lake Tahoe has to offer.  Shopping, services, skiing, golfing, boating, biking and hiking are all very close. Homes in the Tahoe Island Park area have easy access during winter since the lots and streets are fairly level and they aren’t located too far from the main artery of Highway 50. Since the area’s main road, Tahoe Keys Blvd, is considered a main road, snow removal is quick to get to the area. Public transportation is nearby as well.

Family Friendly

Popular Tahoe Valley Elementary School is in the Tahoe Island Park neighborhood.  The homes and streets have a community feel and you’ll often see residents walking or biking by. This is a very popular Halloween trick or treating area because of the safe neighborhood feel.

Tahoe Island Drive Area

Tahoe Island Drive is a family oriented neighborhood located between Highway 89 and Tahoe Keys Blvd, just to the south of the Tahoe Keys. Tahoe Island Drive is well loved by Lake Tahoe locals and has more locally owned homes than most South Shore neighborhoods. The Tahoe Island Drive Neighborhood is home to many long time Tahoe locals who appreciate its wonderful location, tall trees and peaceful settings.  The Tahoe Island area enjoys all the same benefits of close proximity to Lake Tahoe and Highway 89 as the Gardner Mountain Neighborhood. There is a network of bike/hike trails to the beaches, Camp Richardson and Valhalla/Kiva historic sites that snake throughout this flat, level neighborhood.

The Tahoe Island Drive Neighborhood mainly consists of older homes, However, you can find classic Tahoe chalets; single story ranch styles homes, a few duplexes and some gorgeous new mountain contemporary homes in the mix.  The average lot is 6000 sq. ft. The neighborhood school is Tahoe Valley Elementary located in the heart of the community. Tahoe Island Drive has long had a reputation for affordability and the place to purchase your first Tahoe Home, which when you fall in the love with the area may be your Tahoe home for life.
